Liverpool City Council
Culture Liverpool is the city’s lead agency for cultural development and major event delivery, established following Liverpool’s transformative year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. Since then, it has harnessed the power of arts, music and sport to drive regeneration, civic pride and international profile. Building on Liverpool’s UNESCO City of Music status, Culture Liverpool delivers landmark events—such as Eurovision 2023, River of Light and the Liverpool International Music Festival—while working alongside an ambitious network of cultural partners. It is also a city that is renowned for sport and as well as being the home of two Premier League football teams it has recently hosted the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 and the World Gymnastics Championships 2022 and will host the World Boxing Championships in 2025 and is one of the host cities for UEFA EURO 2028. Combined, they shape an inclusive, accessible and globally recognised cultural and sporting offer that celebrates creativity, passion and tells Liverpool’s unique story.
